IRNA Chief: Supporting World’s Oppressed People, IRNA’s Sensitive Mission

Tehran, Feb 18, IRNA – Managing Director of Islamic Republic News Agency Majid Omidi Shahraki said on Sunday that supporting the oppressed people of the world especially the Palestinian nation is the sensitive mission of IRNA as a free and independent news agency. Making the remarks in a meeting with the Palestinian ambassador to Tehran Salah Zawawi, he expressed hope that all Palestinian groups would get united to help the nation materialize its cause. He maintained that discord among different Palestinian groups is the biggest problem facing the Palestinian nation, stressing that patching up such differences would lead to liberation of Palestine. Referring to remarks made by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials, he noted that Iranˈs polices on the issue of Palestine has remained unchanged. He further expressed regret over certain Arab countriesˈs policy of using the Palestinian issue as a means to overshadow their own differences. The Palestinian ambassador congratulated the IRNA chief on the 34th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. He said his nation looked at Iran as a sincere brother and believed the two nations share a common sense of fraternity based on two principles of Islam and Palestine./end
