ISIL not a threat to Iran: Iranian defense chief

TEHRAN,July 27(MNA) – Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan said on Monday that Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists are not considered a threat to the Islamic Republic. “ISIL is not considered a threat to our country, and the Iraqi people will eliminate the cell by themselves,” Brigadier General Dehqan told on Saturday. He emphasized that Iran’s western borders are safe, adding that the country’s armed forces are carrying out necessary surveillance and are carefully watching borders. The general also stated that ISIL members are actually “hired agents” who have spread in Syria and Iraq with the aim of creating an “atmosphere of terror” in the region.
