Israel’s ability to seriously damage Iran’s nuclear capability is limited: IDF chief

TEHRAN,July 31(MNA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces(IDF) Lieutenant General Benny Gantz said that Israel’s ability to seriously damage Iran’s nuclear capability is limited, Israel National News wrote on Sunday, citing a report. According to the report, Gantz stated, “Israel’s ability to seriously damage Iran’s nuclear capability is limited and is of course, not even remotely similar to that of the United States.” He also reportedly said that if it turns out after the operation that Israel’s ability to damage Iran’s nuclear program is not great, Israel’s deterrence will have suffered a major setback. In addition, Gantz warned that if missiles are launched from Iran at Israel, “it will not be similar to anything that we have experienced in the past.” Israel’s Channel 10 interpreted this as a statement that the Israeli Home Front is not prepared to withstand an Iranian strike. In addition, Amnon Abramovich of Channel 2 assessed on Friday that a large number of Israel’s current and previous security chiefs oppose a strike in Iran, and enumerated some names, including those of Gantz and Mossad chief Tamir Pardo.
