Jahangiri: Extremist, Terrorist Groups, Threat To World Peace

Santa Cruz, June 15, IRNA – Extremist and terrorist groups pose serious threat against world peace and stability, visiting Iranian 1st Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri said in a meeting with Bolivian President Evo Morales, here Saturday morning, local time. “The terrorist groups have created many problems for the Iraqi people and committed countless crimes, putting at stake not only the regional, but also the international peace and security,” said Jahangiri. On bilateral cooperation, the Iranian fist vice president reiterated that the developing countries need to take long strides to ensure their growth and development, stressing that in order to eliminate the obstacles in the way of taking those steps easier they can have a harmonious cooperation. He congratulated President Morales for hosting the G77+China Summit and hoped that the prestigious meeting would turn into a great success for Bolivia, expressing certainty that relying on his wisdom and his government’s good management the summit meeting would bear very positive results. Jahangiri also praised Bolivia’s revolutionary stands on the Palestinian people struggle for liberation of their occupied motherlands and on the Syrian crisis reiterating, “We had from the very beginning of that crisis stressed that the crisis in Syria needed to be resolved resorting to peaceful solutions, but the western countries were opposed to it and that led to the further aggravation of the crisis.” He said that even those western countries have now realized that diplomacy, and not weapons, can solve the Syrian crisis. Jahangiri also conveyed President Hassan Rouhani’s warm regards and greetings to his Bolivian counterpart in the meeting. The Bolivian president, too, in the meeting pointed out that Iran and Bolivia are in the same embankment in their struggle against the Imperialism. “Cooperation between our two countries can have constructive results and the only side that is displeased with it is the global Imperialism,” said President Evo Morales. The Bolivian president said that Iran and his country as two revolutionary countries presiding over two major international groups (the G77 and NAM) can achieve great political and economic objectives through close bilateral cooperation. He also appreciated Iran for its presence in the G7+China Summit, which he said was a spiritual support for Bolivia and a cause for further strengthening the G77’s voice at the international scene. President Morales expressed hope to see Present Rouhani in Bolivia in near future, and also to have another constructive meeting with him during the next UN General Assembly meeting. Jahangiri’s other meetings in Bolivia today included meeting the county’s Senate speaker, UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon and the Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. The G77+China Summit is scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday, local time, in Bolivia’s Santa Cruz City and the Iranian first vice president will be one of the lecturers in it. The Islamic Republic of Iran is currently the rotating head of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and Bolivia is the present day head of the G77. Bolivia this year took over the rotating presidency of the G77+China, a bloc of developing nations within the United Nations system that has grown to include 133 countries, which also marks its 50th anniversary in its eastern city of Santa Cruz on June 14-15./end
