Jalili Condemns Arms Shipment To Syrian Dissidents

Tehran, June 25, IRNA – Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili on Sunday condemned the shipment of arms to Syrian dissidents, saying it would spark reaction of international community. ˈThe international community would categorically react to the issue which has disgraced those countries supplying such arms,ˈ said Jalili in a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour in Tehran. He said shipment of arms by few countries is among instances of threat to world security. He added that regional countries should not allow certain western powers to target regional security using terrorism as a tool. Jalili said the 11th presidential election in Iran should serve as a model of true democracy for the world and the region. After each election, Iranˈs national strength and international power grow, he added. Mansour, for his part, said arms shipment to al-Qaeda and Nasra front terrorists runs counter to claims of supporting democracy. ˈSecurity would be restored to the region only through peaceful means and paying attention to public demands,ˈ/end
