Jannati: Public Mobilization Necessary In Economic War

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA – Provisional Friday prayer leader of Tehran said here Friday that the entire nation, including officials, military and disciplinary forces must be mobilized to confront the enemy’s economic war against Iran, although the wave of increased consumer good prices is a passing wave. Stressing the importance of the matter, Ayatollah Mohammad Jannati added, “Just like the (imposed Iraqi) war era when the entire people, even the women, were mobilized and the latter group was backing up the war-fronts from the cities, today too a public mobilization is needed.” The Friday preacher of Tehran referred to the meeting between the system officials and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamene’ie, adding, “As his eminence said there, we must accept the realities.” Ayatollah Jannati pointed out that as the leader has mentioned, being idealist has no contradiction with being simultaneously a realist, just as during the past 33 years when the ideals have been preserved, the hardships have been tolerated, and the challenges have been left behind. He said that the ongoing crisis is a fleeting phenomenon and the emergence of extraordinary conditions in any period is possible, reiterating, “In an era there is an earthquake, in another era a flood, cholera, hunger, and war, and although there is no escape from these (unfavorable) conditions in life, but we must break this wave and not to yield to it, in order to emerge victorious, and we must believe that we can do it, as it is a clear as day for me that we can.” Jannati added, “Relying on strong will, pious spirit, Jijadi work, selflessness, and martyrdom seeking, which existed in the past, we would cent per cent be able to defeat this crisis as well.” The incumbent secretary of the Guardians Council pointed out that the current crisis is not only economic, but also political, arguing, “The US concern is defeating the country in the political scene in order to restore its hegemony in the region.” Ayatollah Jannati further stressed that a public mobilization is not only necessary, but also possible, asking the cultural officials of the system to work on the matter, since “merely mentioning the matter in sermons will not be effective.” ** It should not be assumed that no one heeds the people’s problems He said that some people think the officials are well off, an they do not heed the people’s pains and sorrows, reiterating, “I tell you, if not 100% of the system officials, but at least the top officials so far as I know, are busy and by attending meetings are engaged in efforts aimed at solving the people’s problems, atop whom there is the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, so do not take it for granted that no one heeds the people’s problems.” The interim Friday prayer leader of Tehran said, “This wave is fleeting and it will not last long, but all we need to do is economic resistance, which is just like military resistance and side by side with it, we must rely on God, which means we should have a monotheist viewpoint about the country’s affairs.” ** Economize in consuming water and electricity and refrain from extravagance in parties Ayatollah Jannati added that economizing is a necessity, adding, “We have still not believed that we are passing through tough conditions. The Supreme Leader had already mentioned the need to alter the consumption pattern, and to work with double strong will, but some (people and officials) did not act as it was expected of them.” He added, “If we would economize in consuming water, electricity, food stuff, and in parties and celebrations, the problem would be solved, It is of course good to give parties, but limits must be observed and food must be cooked modestly so that the excess amount would not have to be thrown in the garbage cans, and avoiding extravagance is the best thing to do.” The interim Friday prayer leader of Tehran also proposed that the Iranians should use the goods which are manufactured in Iran more often than before, arguing, “Of course we have some bad memories, as many of the managers and system officials were not buying Iranian goods so that they would gain commission through buying imported goods, and I do not know weather it is still so, or not, but we must move towards local production and we must all be mobilized to leave behind the crisis.” ** Syria is not the matter; the enemies’ war is against resistance Focusing over the issue of Syria, Ayatollah Jannati said, “The created catastrophe in which the entire enemies have been mobilized to defeat that country, and Saudi Arabia, and atop all the United States, and Qatar, too, and the question that needs to be answered is why they interfere in internal affairs of other countries?” He reiterated, “Syria is not the matter, as it is the resistance front that is in the focus of the enemies’ attention.” Also focusing on the ongoing crisis in Bahrain, the Tehran Friday preacher said, “The Muslims in Bahrain are constantly targeted by the enemy and they are tortured and imprisoned, too.” Ayatollah Jannati added, “We pray to God to rid the Shi’a Muslims of the atrocities of the enemies of Islam, including the United States and the Zionist regime, and the other countries that contribute to weakening of the Muslims.” ** Reporters should dispatch news to strengthen the people’s spirit Referring to the anniversary of the Reporters Day, he congratulated the day to the media representatives and asked them to think about the aftermaths of the news that they are going to dispatch, and while preserving the attraction of their news items, take care not to create negative waves in the society, refrain from spreading rumors and creating pessimism about the system officials; the GC secretary also advised the reporters to dispatch news that would elevate the people’s spirits and increase their interest in the values of the revolution./end
