Japan-China Summit Should Be Held without Conditions: Suga

Tokyo, Aug. 4 (Jiji Press)--A summit meeting between the Japanese and Chinese leaders should be held without any conditions, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday. Japan's consistent position is that the two countries need to hold a dialogue because there are problems that should be addressed, without making conditions for such a meeting, Suga told a press conference. The Japanese government hopes that a meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping will be held on the sidelines of an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum summit in Beijing in November, Suga said. "Japan always keeps its door for dialogue open," he said, adding that Tokyo wants Beijing to take a similar stance. Suga added that he sees no change in China's stance on a bilateral summit. END
