Japan officially announced prime minister’s visit to Russia

TOKYO, April 28. /TASS/. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will visit Russia in a period from May 1 to 7 during his European tour, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters on Thursday. "Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will visit five European countries, including Great Britain and Germany and will pay a visit to Russia in a priod from May 1 to 7," he said. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he will meet with the Japanese prime minister in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi on May 6. He expressed the hope this meeting will make a contribution to the development of relations between the two countries. Putin them said dialogue with Japan is a top priority of Russia’s foreign policy. "I hope Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s working visit on May 6 will help expand Russian-Japanese ties on the basis on mutual benefit and reckoning with each other’s interests," the Russian leader said.
