Japan Thanks Jordan King for Help in Hostage Crisis

Amman, Feb. 4 (Jiji Press)--Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Yasuhide Nakayama thanked Jordanian King Abdullah II Wednesday for his country's support during the hostage crisis. In their meeting in Amman, Nakayama expressed his heartfelt solidarity with the Jordanian government and its people over the apparent killing of a Jordanian air force pilot by the Islamic State militant group. Nakayama, who leads a task force set up in the Jordanian capital by the Japanese government to deal with the hostage crisis, also said his country will not give in to terrorism. Japan will firmly fulfill its responsibility in the fight against terrorism while working with the international community, he said. King Abdullah II offered his deep condolences to the families of Haruna Yukawa and Kenji Goto and all Japanese citizens, referring to the Japanese nationals apparently killed by the militant group in the hostage crisis.
