Japan Urged to Liquidate Its Past Crimes

Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean Committee on Measures for the Sexual Slavery for Japanese Army and Drafting Victims released a statement Monday, the 71st anniversary of Korea's liberation from the colonial yoke by the Japanese imperialists. The statement said: Still lingering are sorrow and pain suffered by more than one million Koreans who were mercilessly massacred, over 8.4 million Koreans who were forcibly drafted by the Japanese imperialists and 200 000 Korean women who were forced to serve sex for the Imperial Japanese Army. Still trembling with grudge that is left un-vented are victims of sexual slavery and forcible drafting who suffered pain due to crimes against humanity committed by the Japanese imperialists, and those who were exposed to biochemical weapons used by the Japanese imperialists in different parts of the world including Korea. However, ringing out from Japan, direct party that committed crimes, are voices justifying the shameful criminal acts, far from repenting of and regretting them. The present Japan reminds one of the appearance of Japan more than 7 decades ago when its militarist forces emerged throughout the country being obsessed with war fever while crying out "liberating Asia from the European and American powers". Japan has to clearly remember that it is seriously anachronistic. World today is no longer what it used to be in the past when Japan was allowed to justify its imperialist arbitrary practices of depriving other country of their sovereignty with a false document and taking away hundreds of thousands of women as sexual slaves. The Japanese authorities have to drop wild dream and opt for the past liquidation with frank and sincere attitude to the past crimes and fulfill their responsibility and obligation before the international community. -0-
