Japanese Circulated Daily Chief Editor Calls For Success Of Abe Idea

Tokyo, Sept 11, IRNA - Hashimoto Keiko, a distinguished journalist of the Japanese leading newspaper company, the Nikkei, supported her government’s idea of women assuming leading role in their country. She said to this effect her newspaper has dedicated a special page on working women. She made the remarks while speaking to a group of eight journalists from Iran, Bangladesh, Philippines, South Africa, Egypt, India, Indonesia and Myanmar on the eve of the World Assembly for Women in Tokyo: WAW! Tokyo 2014 Open Forum “Women’s Power as the Source of Growth” (September 12-13). Ms. Hashimoto said she is Chief editor of "Josei-men", a section of the Nikkei devoted to features and news for working women. She said since dedication of the page to the subject, the circulation of the daily has been increased, drawing growing number of readers. She believes that it is still hard for women to go to work, while handling houseworks. Referring to the low rate of women on the board positions in Japan, she expressed hope that the rate would be higher in future./end
