The John Batchelor Show promotes American audience`s awareness of the Azerbaijani city of Ganja

Baku, August 17, AZERTAC John Batchelor, the host of the popular American radio program “The John Batchelor Show”, visited Ganja, Azerbaijan`s second largest city, as he made a series of programs on the country. Called “The surprising tolerance of Ganja on the Silk Road”, the program featured an interview with first deputy head of Ganja Executive Authority Elnur Rzayev. John Batchelor highlighted the history of Ganja. He said that a beautiful city of Ganja is growing quickly, as fast as other cities of the country. John Batchelor mentioned that the main purpose of the radio program is to familiarize the American radio listeners with Ganja. Deputy head of Ganja Executive Authority Elnur Rzayev stressed that thanks to the successful policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev all the cities of Azerbaijan are developing. ”I want to say to the public of America, please come to Ganja. This is a very historic city. This is the fast developing city. There is a big difference between hearing and seeing. It is very easy to come to Ganja to see all the sightseeing places and to enjoy our historic city,” he said. John Batchelor hailed the development of agriculture in Ganja and the fact the that people are engaged in agriculture with great enthusiasm. Speaking about the welfare of the people, Elnur Rzayev noted that the policy of the Azerbaijani government is to ensure the development of the non-oil sector, including tourism and agriculture. “It is the keystone of the purposeful policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev that each citizen must live a better life and we are inviting everyone to come and see this themselves,” he said. In response to John Batchelor’s remark about the latest Ganja events, Elnur Rzayev said: “Unfortunately, some forces do not want stability and development to prevail in Azerbaijan. They are attempting to use any possible means to disturb the stability in the country.”
