Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla Duo Trails Ahead Based On Quick Count - AntaraNews

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo or popularly known as Jokowi and his running mate, Jusuf Kalla (JK) have trailed ahead in the 2014 Indonesian presidential election that is held in the republic Wednesday. According to a AntaraNews.com report, which was based on a report of the National Survey Institute (LSN), Jokowi and Jusuf from the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) won in five major provinces in the republic based on a quick count. The AntaraNews.com reported LSI researcher Ardian Sopa as saying the pair won in Jakarta (54.71 percentage of votes) Central Jawa Tengah (53.65 percent), East Jawa (59.77 percent), North Sumatra (59.77 percent ) and South Sulawesi Selatan (71.82 percent) based on the quick count involving seven provinces. Meanwhile Jokowi's challenger, Prabowo Subianto and his running mate, Hatta Rajasa of Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) won in the West Jawa province when it garnered 59.80 percent of the votes and 58.73 percent in Banten. "Jokowi definitely has a big win in PDI-P's strongholds such as Central Jawa, East Jawa and South Sulawesi," he told AntaraNews.com. Ardian said the provinces of West Jawa and Banten are strong fortresses for Prabowo-Hatta in the 2014 presidential election and presidential representatives. LSI quick count, after 98.05 percent of the ballot papers were received as at 3 pm local time (West Indonesia Time), indicated that the Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla pair preceded the 2014 presidential election when they obtained 53.37 percent of the popular votes and challengers, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa 46.63 percent according to AntaraNews.com.
