Judiciary chief: Daesh, a conspiracy to undermine Iraqi economic development

Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA – Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said on Monday that emergence of Daesh Takfiri terror group was a conspiracy to undermine the Iraqi economic development. He made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Vice-President Nouri al-Maliki. Al-Maliki and Larijani conferred on expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries along with regional developments. Bolstering relations and cooperation between Iran and Iraq will help restore stability in the region and also will consolidate economic cooperation among regional countries. Iraq is rich in terms of natural resources and workforce which have created suitable grounds for expansion of cultural and economic progress in the country. The enemies have created Daesh to curb success and progress of the Muslim nation, he said. Expressing hope for victory of Iraqi nation and army over terrorists, he said that the Iraqi nation is expected to swiftly conquer problems to achieve success and economic development and progress in parallel with Iran and other countries in the region. The era of premiership of Nouri al-Maliki is the era of handful problems, Larijani said and underlined that through rationality of Iraqi government, the country has overcome many of its problems and has currently fallen on the track of progress and economic development. Larijani called for expansion of legal and judiciary cooperation between the two countries to address the problems of the Iranian and Iraqi nationals. He called on the Iraqi government to do its utmost to protect the Islamic cultural heritage, scientific centers and libraries which are unique in the Muslim World. The visiting Iraqi vice-president for his part expressed satisfaction over his visit to Iran and called for expansion of relations between the two nations who share cultural and historical commonalities. Fortunately, the two nations could successfully resolve their historical issues dating back to military confrontation between the two countries and now enjoy good-neighborly relations, he said. The region is currently in dire need of collective contribution of all Muslim nations and governments to maintain unity and stability, Maliki said. Iraq spare no efforts to resolve the problems of the Iranian pilgrims, he said./end
