Justice Min. : 41 Iranian Prisoners In Turkey To Soon Return

Ankara, Oct 6, IRNA – The 41 Iranian inmates who were released from Turkish prisons on probation but were not allowed to leave the country would be back home soon, said visiting Justice Minister of Iran Morteza Bakhtiari here on Saturday. Referring to talks with his Turkish counterpart Sadullah Ergin as "constructive," Bakhtiari told IRNA that an agreement was inked by Iranian and Turkish officials on judicial cooperation in the areas of criminal, legal and civilian affairs including extradition and transfer of convicts. Bakhtiari, who is currently in Turkey at the invitation of his counterpart, is a member of the delegation led by First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi. According to the Iranian minister, the two sides stressed the need for implementation of the previously signed agreements between the two capitals. The released Iranians were among some 40,000 prisoners who were recently pardoned based on new Turkish laws./end
