Kayseri and Serbia seek closer ties, says Serbian ambassador

KAYSERI (A.A) - November 24, 2011 - Serbian Ambassador in Ankara Dusan Spasojevic said Thursday that the Turkish province of Kayseri was well known in Serbia. Ambassador Spasojevic visited the Deputy Governor of Kayseri, Kasim Fikret Dayioglu, on Thursday. Speaking to reporters at Dayioglu's office, Ambassador Spasojevic said that they wanted to bring Kayseri and Serbia closer to each other. I have only recently arrived in Turkey. However, even before arriving in Turkey, I knew about Kayseri. Renowned architect Mimar Sinan was born here. Turkish President Abdullah Gul is from Kayseri. At the same time, you have a successful soccer club here in Kayseri, Spasojevic said. We are here today to bring Kayseri and Serbia closer to each other in social, cultural and economic spheres, Spasojevic said. Dayioglu, in his part, said that Turkey and Serbia had deep rooted social and cultural relations. While promoting social and cultural ties, we also need to develop economic relations between Turkey and Serbia, Dayioglu also said.
