Korean Ambassador describes AZERTAC’s chairing of two international media organizations as a sign of trust placed in it

Baku, February 14, AZERTAC “Azerbaijan State News Agency’s (AZERTAC) presidency of the two international media organizations is a sign of trust placed in this news agency,” said Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Kim Tong-op as he met with Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov. The ambassador hailed the successful development of relations between the two countries, pointing out the expansion of cooperation in the media sector too. Kim Tong- op also praised the fruitful cooperation between Yonhap and AZERTAC. Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov and Korean Ambassador Kim Tonq-op also discussed the issues relating to the preparations for the 17th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) to be held in Seoul, Korea. Chairmanship of the OANA will be passed from AZERTAC to the Korean Yonhap news agency this November. It was noted that AZERTAC and Yonhap signed a cooperation agreement in 2015, are currently conducting successful exchange of information, and making joint efforts to improve OANA's activity. Aslan Aslanov underlined that the next OANA Executive Board meeting will be held this April in Vietnam which will focus on preparations for the 17th OANA General Assembly to be held in Seoul. “Yonhap's nomination for OANA's presidency for 2019-2022 was adopted by more than 40 member agencies from 35 countries during the General Assembly held in November 2016 in Baku. AZERTAC provided Yonhap with great support in this issue. Korean Yonhap news agency is also recognized as one of the active partners of the News Agencies World Congress currently chaired by AZERTAC.”
