Korean Peninsula to gain from Russia-US relations improvement - S.Korean official

SEOUL, November 27. /TASS/. An improvement of relations between Russia and the United States will have a positive impact on the Korean Peninsula conflict settlement, South Korean Special Presidential Envoy Song Young-gil said on Monday. "An improvement of relations between Russia and the United States will be a positive signal for the whole Korean Peninsula," Song Young-gil said speaking at the opening of the eighth annual Asian Conference of the Valdai international discussion club in Seoul. "The relations must be restored," the South Korean official said adding that the interaction between Moscow and Washington would not only help in the settlement of the North Korean nuclear issue, but would also be beneficial for the spheres of security, fight against terrorism as well as many other issues. Song Young-gil also said he believed that Russia could play an extremely important role in the solution of the current crisis, regarding the nuclear ambitions of North Korea. Read more
