KPU Asks Two Candidates To Respect Official Results

Jakarta, July 10 (Antara) - The General Elections Commission (KPU) Chairman Husni Kamil Manik has called on both the presidential candidate pairs to respect the official results of the presidential election by the KPU. "We call on all parties to respect the official results of the presidential election by the KPU. The official results will be announced on July 22," Husni Kamil Manik stated here on Thursday. He pointed out that the two camps of presidential candidates should maintain order and security until the inauguration of the president and vice president elected by the people. "The activities and atmosphere remain conducive. We hope that this is a form of maturity shown by the Indonesian people in building democracy," he affirmed. The safe and smooth implementation of the vote counting process on Wednesday (July 9) should be maintained until the determination and announcement of the results on July 22. "Let us maintain this situation until the compilation of the presidential election results. All parties should work to maintain this peace. Accordingly, it can be said that the democratic process has been implemented, and the community has fulfilled its sovereignty in a democracy," he added. After voting and counting at ballot stations on Wednesday (9 July), the board of election organizers has begun step-by-step recapitulation of votes on Thursday. The vote recapitulation process gradually commenced from the village to the sub-district level at the Sub-district Polling Committee (PPS) for three days from Thursday until Saturday.
