Kremlin says permanent contacts with participants in Middle East settlement are important

Russia believes it is important to be in constant touch with the parties to the Middle East conflict to promote its resolution, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said commenting on the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas and the forthcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "Russia is in constant touch with the participants in the negotiation process, with all parties to the Middle East settlement," Peskov said. "We are synchronizing watches. We need to understand what is proposed and what the parties are ready for," he said. "From this point of view these contacts are certainly important." Peskov noted that "the Middle East settlement was impossible without a strong political will of Palestinians and Israelis."
