Kurds’ participation in Syrian talks important, useful - adviser to Iran’s supreme leader

MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. The participation of the Kurds in the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva is important and useful as long as Syria’s territorial integrity is preserved, Ali Akbar Velayati, a foreign policy adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader said on Wednesday. "As long as the Kurdish side is committed to ensuring Syria’s territorial integrity and to making sure that representatives of all religions and tribes - Shiites, Sunnis, Alawites and Kurds - live in Syria, of course, if these conditions are observed, the Kurds’ presence becomes important and useful," he said. "We hope that favorable conditions will be prepared for a dialogue beween the government and the opposition," Ali Akbar Velayati said. "And the first condition is that those who position themselves as opposition members should not be terrorists." It is also important that no preconditions are put forward by negotiators, Velayati added. "I want to say that the Syrian Kurds have had very good coordination with the Syrian government," he said.
