Kuwaiti Politician Hails Iran's Role In Regional Stability

Kuwait, Oct 22, IRNA – Outstanding Kuwaiti politician Jassem Al-Kharafi hailed Iran's role in maintaining regional peace. He made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati. The former speaker of Kuwaiti parliament stressed the need for further cooperation among regional states to cool down the sharpening crisis in the region. He believed Iran played a significant role in stability of the region especially in the critical situation in Iraq. He praised Iran's balanced policies against regional crises as well as its policy of détente. Al-Kharafi welcomed development of ties between the two countries and said such relation will benefit the Kuwaiti nation. Jannati noted that the Iranian and Kuwaiti leaders are aware of the importance of expanding mutual ties. He said the recent visit of Kuwaiti Emir to Iran opened up a new chapter in mutual relations, adding that he believed the growing ties would have positive impact on regional peace, security and stability. The culture minister further voiced Iran's readiness to expand all-out ties with Kuwait and hoped his visit to the country would pave the way for further media and press cooperation./end
