Larger number of women elected as MPs in new parliament

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Parliament of Mongolia (State Great Khural) of a new convocation to be formed as results of this elections will have the biggest number of women member than previous parliaments. The previous parliament had 11 women MPs who accounted for 14.4% of all parliamentarians, whereas this parliament is expected to include 13 women MPs. 12 of them are elected from the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) and one--from the Democratic Party (DP). According to voting results, B.Undamraa got the biggest number of votes (9,673), who is followed by Ts.Garamjav (9,241) and G.Monkhtsetseg (8,900). The most promising candidates M.Batchimeg and G.Uyanga (incumbent parliamentarians) and P.Anujin were not elected, while current women MPs D.Oyunkhorol and D.Sarangerel were re-elected.
