Larijani: Bitter experience of terrorism has roots in lack of int'l will

Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA - Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday that the bitter experience of terrorism has roots in lack of firm political will at international level in fight against it and adoption of improper method in the campaign. Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Slovenian President Borut Pahor in Tehran on Wednesday. Slovenian president, heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, is in Tehran to reopen Slovenian embassy in Tehran. 'Iran welcomes expansion of parliamentary, economic and cultural cooperation with Slovenia,' Larijani said. Some good measures have been taken to ease domestic and foreign investment and the Iranian parliament supports the move, he said. The bitter reality with the region is the existence of terrorism in the region, which has been mounting in recent years and requires a collective contribution and firm political will at international level to uproot the improper methods, Larijani said. Iraqi government, armed forces and its people have attained significant achievements in fight against terrorists in Mosul and in Syria it has been proved that democracy will be established through pushing back the terrorists from their land and cutting their logistic support. On current developments in Yemen, he said adoption of coercive measures against Yemen led to spread of insecurity and instability in the region, Larijani said. Slovenian president, for his part said the Islamic Republic of Iran is regarded as a very significant country in the region, leaving impressive impact on regional and global developments. No doubt, reopening Slovenian embassy in Tehran will shed light on prospect of Iran-Slovenia relations, he said. Growth of terrorism in the region and the world is very concerning and there is no firm determination at global level to fight against it and this requires collective contribution in this regard, he said. Sound implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has opened a new horizon to promotion of political and economic cooperation between Tehran, Europe and the world, the Slovenian president said. Slovenia is ready for joint investment in economic, commercial, industrial, environment and new energies in the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said. Slovenian president also highlighted the significant role of Iran's Majlis in political and economic decision making procedures. 1378/IRNA
