Larijani: Global Powers Promote Extremism

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that the wrong policies of global powers led to growth and promotion of extremist groups in the region. According to the Majlis international relations department, Larijani said expansion of extremist groups are now regarded as big problems in the region. The wrong approach of global powers to the occupation of Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria helped promote extremism. Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Head of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Mexican Senate, Gabriela Cuevas Barrón on Monday. Grounds are prepared for expansion of relations and cooperation between Iran and Mexico, he said. Broadening of cooperation between Iran and Mexico would help upgrade trade exchanges to a satisfactory level, Larijani said. Gabriela Cuevas Barrón, for her part, said both Iran and Mexico enjoy cultural and historical commonalities, adding that her country calls for expansion of economic, cultural and scientific relations with Iran. Referring to Iranˈs high potentials in the energy sector, she said Mexico is willing to broaden cooperation with Iran in the sector.
