Larijani: Iran-China Leaders Resolute To Expand Ties

Beijing, Nov 2, IRNA – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said in Shiyan, China, Friday that the Iranian and Chinese leaders are resolutely determined to further expand and strengthen comprehensive bilateral relations. I have had very positive and constructive talks with high ranking Chinese officials, said Larijani on Friday evening before leaving Shiyan. He said that although Tehran-Beijing relations are already at excellent level, Iran and China are determined to further improve them. In my meetings with the Chinese president and the chairman of the Chinese National Congress in Beijing they were both stressing that there are still lots of fields for further expansion of relations. The parliament speaker added that Iran and China have shared viewpoints on most regional and international issues, including their shared belief in need for peaceful resolving of crises and restoration of stability in crisis-stricken areas. Iran and China can play roles in significant international developments, he said. After the interview the Iranian parliament speaker and his high ranking accompanying delegation left Shiyan for Tehran at the end of their four day official visit. Ali Larijani had earlier embarked on a visit to Shanghai in continuation of his official visit to China. Larijani visited several economic, trade and development projects in Shanghai. Larijani has been invited by his Chinese counterpart to visit Beijing and Shanghai. Heading a high ranking parliamentary delegation, Larijani arrived in Beijing on Tuesday. Upon arrival at Beijing International Airport, Larijani was warmly welcomed by the top Chinese officials and Irans Ambassador to China Mehdi Safari. Larijanis visit is taking place at an official invitation of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress of China Zhan De Jiang. Addressing a gathering in Beijing University on Tuesday, the Iranian top parliamentarian said that the two capitals could play an influential role in resolving the ongoing crisis in Syria as well as other world crises./end
