Larijani: Iran Expects Int'l Bodies To Severely React To Terrorist Acts

Tehran, May 1, IRNA – Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that Iranians expect international organizations to bravely react to assassination of Iranian scientific elites. Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Director General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Qian Tang on the sidelines of a Forum of Asia and Pacific Parliamentarians for Education in Tehran on Monday. Pointing to the assassination of some Iranian nuclear scientists, Larijani said Iran expects the international bodies especially UNESCO to take bravely stance against such terrorist acts which are targeting scientific and cultural figures. He described UNESCO’s role in tackling cultural challenges and removing injustices all over the world as vital and said Iran has always taken positive attitudes towards UNESCO and supported it. Tang appreciated the Iranian Majlis’ move to host the meeting and said general education have always played an important role in tackling cultural injustice in different countries of the world. He said Iranian Majlis has played a vital role making coordination with regional parliaments. “Regional cooperation is an important factor for promotion of general education and Iran’s valuable experiences in this regard is a very rich asset for other countries,” he said./end
