Larijani: Iran, Russia to have closer cooperation

Tehran, Nov 14, IRNA - Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Iran and Russia have expanded relations in recent years, adding that visit of Chairman of Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko to Iran will help ties grow even more. Speaking in a press conference, Larijani expressed pleasure with Matviyenko and her entourage's visit to Iran. He referred to extensive relations between Iran and Russia in recent years, reiterating that both countries have had close relations in economic, political and security cooperation. 'We had constructive and useful negotiations, and the presented recommendations were also compatible with regional and international conditions,' he added. Other issues discussed in the meeting were cooperation in railway and closer relations between Iranian and Russian provinces, he said. Larijani noted that Russian official's trip to Iran is of importance in promoting trade relations, political, parliamentary and security cooperation between the two countries. Valentina Matviyenko, heading a delegation, arrived in Tehran on Nov 13 and she is scheduled to visit President Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. 1378/IRNA
