Larijani: Iran-Russia Strategic Ties Essential To Regional Security

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that Tehran-Moscow strategic ties are essential to regional security. In a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Iran, Levan Dzhagaryan, he underlined expansion of bilateral ties. According to Majlis News and Mass Media Department, Larijani recalled that Majlis welcomes any activity which makes ties deeper in political and economic fields. Describing Tehran-Moscow ties as strategic for regional security, he said that the two countries’ capacities should be fully utilized in line with establishing lasting peace and security in the region requiring regular talks between the two states’ political and parliamentary officials. The speaker stressed the need to shun the cases which may cause negative mentality in bilateral ties. Dzhagaryan, for his part, described Tehran-Moscow ties as excellent and growing. He said that Russian high-ranking officials favor development of ties with Iran in the political, economic and commercial fields. The Russian envoy characterized Iran’s nuclear program as peaceful and called for continued nuclear talks between Iran and Group 5+1./end
