Larijani: Military action against Yemen only benefits Zionist regime

Tehran, April 14, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Tuesday said military action against Yemen and destruction of the country's infrastructures should be taken as damage to whole Muslims and only Zionist regime of Israel and powerful countries benefit from it. Speaking to his Omani counterpart Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasser Al Mawali over phone on Tuesday, Larijani said presence of terrorist groups in the region and their war mongering have resulted in instability and insecurity and therefore Muslim countries should prevent continuation of the regional crises through consultations. He recalled former Soviet war on Afghanistan and said occupation and war would have no positive result for the aggressor country and the people coming under attack would surely defend their land. The Omani speaker, for his part, said his country's policy is based on establishment of peace and security in the region and that Oman supports any plan and initiative to end the war in Yemen. He said dialogue among the belligerent parties in Yemen can have peaceful and fruitful results. He also urged strong cooperation and consultations between Iran and Oman to help restore peace and stability to the region.
