Larijani: Nuclear deal likely with no unfounded excuses

Tehran, Jan 26, IRNA – Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday said Iran will continue nuclear talks respecting its logical principles and norms. He noted reaching a nuclear agreement is possible if baseless excuses were not put forward by the other negotiating party. He made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Foreign Minister of Croatia Vesna Pusić who is currently in Tehran to exchange views with senior Iranian officials on issues of mutual interests. Referring to Tehran-Zagreb relations, Larijani said both capitals enjoy enormous potentials to promote bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic, political and industrial fields. Referring to the role of the Iranian and Croatian parliaments in boosting Tehran-Zagreb relations, Larijani voiced readiness of the Iranian Majlis to help further cooperation between the two nations. Meanwhile, the Croatian minister said Zagreb is willing to strengthen its cooperation with Iran in all trade, parliamentarian, political, industrial and economic fields. Pusic, for his part, expressed hope that the nuclear dispute would be settled through firm determination of the two negotiating parties (Iran and the Group 5+1) in a fair way which would secure global peace and stability. She stressed that as a new member of the European Union, Croatia is ready to help progress in the nuclear talks. Croatia has become the 28th country to join the EU on June 30, 2013. Referring to terrorism as a threatening phenomenon, Pusic said no serious coalitions has been made by the international community yet to fight the terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) in the region. She stressed the need to adopt a strong and consolidated approach to confront terrorist extremist groups including Daesh. Pusic also called for further expansion of bilateral relations between Iranian and Croatian parliaments to facilitate promotion of trade exchanges and joint investments in industrial and petrochemical fields.
