Larijani: US Has No Real Confrontation With Terrorism

Qom, Aug 7, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the US has no real confrontation with terrorism and considers the issue as a business. Larijani made the remarks in the 8th conference of directors and representatives of Al-Mustafa Society in Qom on Wednesday . Referring to recent terrorist incidents in Iraq, Larijani said that we are witness that the USA is just watching ISIS acts in Iraq and is still thinking about making a business. He continued that enemies of Islam are trying to create disunity among Shia and Sunni Muslims in the region, adding that as we witness promotion of Islamic thought in the region, the enemies are spreading differences among religious sects. Larijani said misunderstanding of a number of countries in the region and help of big powers to some elements, created the opportunity for spreading differences between Shia and Sunni Muslims in Iraq. Some information tell us that the US officials had had meetings with terrorist groups to persuade them to aim their weapons against Iran and Shia Muslims. He stressed that foreign countries intelligence services are behind those who are creating disunity among Shia and Sunni Muslims in Iraq. The Majlis Speaker continued that the wave which terrorist groups have created will be short term and their behavior will be in favor of Islam in the long term. On the attacks of the Zionist regime against residents of Gaza, Larijani said that such criminal acts show the peak of Israeli barbarism. We are witnessing a wave of hatred among western countries nations for Israel, so their governments are forced to take stances with their own people. He stressed that imposing global management to the world is being defeated and now we are witnessing a positive trend, which can make situation easier for us to work in international arena. Larijani added that emerging new powers in the world is something serious and we are witnessing that Russiaˈs situation has completely changed compared with the past and there are new challenges in international arena for this country. In the 5-day conference here, a number of religious and political characters have delivered speeches. Deputy Foreign Minister in Legal and International Affairs and a senior member of Iranˈs nuclear negotiating team with Group 5+1 Abbas Araqchi explained latest developments in important issues in foreign policy in the morning session of the conference.
