Larijani: US Stand In G 5+1 Negotiation, Destructive

Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that negotiation with the US is not a red line, adding that the US, instead of taking a destructive stance, should help negotiation to progress. In an interview with Al-Aˈlam TV network on Tuesday, Larijani said it has never been said that talk with the US is a red line. Majlis Speaker reminded that several years ago, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in his speech in Mashad, capital of Khorasan Razavi province, said that Iran is examining US behavior and waiting to see behavior of the US president. He continued that US behavior in Group 5+1 could be a sign, it means that instead of taking a destructive stance, they can help the negotiations to progress. Concerning causes of delay in talks between Iran and G 5+1, Larijani said that the other side is delaying while Iran is ready for talks. He said that G 5+1 is able to settle the problems in current situation, but only if it starts negotiation with initiative and honesty. Larijani explained that Iran has offered proposals, which could lead to good results, but negligence and waste of time decreased chances of G5+1 in this issue. Concerning effects of sanctions on Iran, Larijani said that Americans have no correct understanding of the issue adding that changes in Iranˈs economic situation have several reasons. He continued that high prices and economic inflation in Iran are partly related to high liquidity in the country and sanctions have a low effect on the issue. The speaker reminded that Iran has capacity in domestic production which makes it able to settle this problem, but these economic complications should be removed./end
