Larijani's Africa Visit Aims To Boost Economic, Parliamentary Ties

Tehran, March 4, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said his visits to South Africa and Congo are aimed at fostering economic and parliamentary relations with the two nations. Talking to reporters before departing Tehran for South Africa, he noted that Iran has always attached special importance to ties with African countries especially in economic and political areas. He referred to South Africa and Congo as two friendly countries which enjoy fairly close parliamentary relations with Iran. The speaker also pointed to many cases of exchanges of views between Iran and South Africa in years after the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran in political and international fields and hoped his visit would help bolster ties especially in economic areas. During his four-day tour, Larijani will discuss issues of mutual interest with senior officials of the two countries. In South Africa, the speaker will confer with president, parliament speaker and head of Senate. The visits are taking place at the invitations of parliament speakers of the two African countries./end
