Latest Defensive Equipment Successfully Tested In Velayat-4 Maneuver

Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA – Iran's Air force has successfully tested its latest air defense, electronic, interception and monitoring equipment during the Velayat-4 antiaircraft drill in eastern Iran, Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announced Saturday. Addressing a local meeting here, Vahidi said the maneuver was of great significance for the country demonstrating Iranians’ capabilities in confronting any possible threats. Iran’s Air Force started the anti-aircraft maneuver in the eastern province of South Khorassan last Monday to display its power to protect the country from any possible air threats. Various air defense systems including electronic warfare instruments, radars, missiles, wiretapping, observation posts and artillery units participated in the military drill codenamed ‘Ya Rasoul-allah’. The maneuver was held in a 850,000-square-meter area demonstrating Army’s air defense capabilities including various types of long-range radar systems as well as its fighter, transport, tanker and drone planes. The F-4, F-5, F-7 and F-14 jet fighters as well as Mirage and Sukhoi aircraft and surveillance planes were also used in the military drill. A number of domestically made missile systems were also successfully test fired during the Velayat-4 military exercises./end
