Lavrov holding meeting with Iran foreign minister in Vienna

VIENNA, July 6. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is holding a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on sidelines of nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers in Vienna. The foreign ministers greeted each other before the start of the meeting at the luxury Palais Coburg hotel in Austria’s capital, the site of many rounds of talks between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group - Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States. Talks continued behind closed doors. Russia’s top diplomat met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi earlier in the day and attended a coordination meeting involving the foreign ministers of the six powers. Following a negotiating marathon in Switzerland in early April, Iran and six world powers began the difficult process of finalising a historic deal that could end 12 years of negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear programme. A final round of talks in Vienna is expected to finish on July 7. Read more
