Lavrov hopes to discuss with Bahraini foreign minister situation in Syria, Yemen and Iraq

MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expects to discuss at the talks with his Bahraini counterpart Khalid Bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa that have begun on Wednesday the situation in the Middle East. "Traditionally, the regional and international issues with an emphasis on the state of affairs in the Middle East, the situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen are on the agenda," Lavrov noted. "I am confident that it will be useful for us to discuss these issues. We will discuss the schedule of contacts for the next year." "We have an intensive schedule of contacts at the highest level," the minister said. Russia’s top diplomat recalled that important agreements were reached during a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa that took place last year. "We will discuss the progress in their implementation," Lavrov said. The minister also congratulated the Bahraini delegation on this country’s national holiday marked on Wednesday. Read more
