Lavrov: Iran Has Every Right To Use Peaceful N-technology

Moscow, Feb 28, IRNA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said here on Monday that Iran, as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), has every right to make use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Addressing a press conference, he said based on international regulations and standards set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran is entitled to peaceful nuclear technology. He further stressed that all countries involved in the issue of Iran’s nuclear program are after ensuring the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities. Lavrov criticized the West stands on Iran’s nuclear program and said it seemed that certain countries try to slow down the pace of Iran-IAEA cooperation whenever Tehran voices readiness to cooperate with the agency. The Russian foreign minister said all countries should try to find a solution to the Iranian nuclear issue in a way that Tehran enjoys all the rights that other IAEA member states have access to including producing nuclear fuel./end
