Lavrov meets colleague from Oman to discuss Persian Gulf situation

Russian and Omani Foreign Ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, held a meeting on Monday to discuss the situation in Yemen and the Persian Gulf zone situation prospects, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported. "During the conversation Lavrov and bin Alawi discussed current issues of Russia-Oman relations," the ministry said. "They emphasised the importance of their intensification and tapping the considerable potential of interaction in various spheres." "The ministers also considered the developments in the Middle East region, including the conflict in Yemen in which Oman is playing a useful mediator role, as well as the Persian Gulf zone situation prospects following the conclusion of the Iranian nuclear deal," the ministry said.
