Lavrov suggests OSCE look at Russia, Azerbaijan as examples of interreligious coexistence

BAKU, December 3. /TASS/. Russia and Azerbaijan can serve as an example of coexistence and cooperation between different religions, in particular in the common European space, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday at a joint news conference after negotiations with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. "I’d like to note that Russia and Azerbaijan are examples of coexistence and cooperation of various religions, chiefly Christians and Muslims," the Russian foreign minister highlighted. "We really hope that this example that we are setting will be accepted more broadly, in particular as part of the preparations for the OSCE Ministerial Council that will take place in Bratislava at the end of the week. This topic is extremely vital." In light of this, Lavrov recalled the recent visit by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to Azerbaijan to attend the Second Baku Summit of World Religious Leaders.
