Lawmaker: Severance Of Tehran-Ottawa Ties Not Affecting Iran's Eco-political Fate

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA - Spokesman for Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Seyye Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said on Sunday Canada's decision to close its embassy in Tehran and sever ties with Tehran does not affect Iran's eco-political fate. He told reporters on the sidelines of a Majlis open session that Canada had already put its embassy in Tehran in a semi-closed situation because of its financial problems in handling its embassies abroad. "Although Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird claimed his country's decision to cut ties with Iran was due to its support for Syria and opposition to the Zionist regime, its is just a pretext and political justification to overcome Ottawa's economic crisis," he added. The lawmaker said Canada's hostile act was due to the fact that it could not tolerate Iran's sovereignty and independent stands at international fora and its successful hosting of 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran./end
