LDP Secretary-General Likely to Meet China's Xi

Tokyo, April 19 (Jiji Press)--Toshihiro Nikai, secretary-general of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, is likely to have a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on April 24, LDP officials said Friday. Japan aims to pave the way for Xi's first visit to Japan as president, planned for the summit of the Group 20 in the western Japan city of Osaka. Nikai is scheduled to visit China between April 24 and 29 to participate in an international conference on China's One Belt, One Road regional development initiative. On Friday, Nikai had a meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and received a personal letter from Abe to pass to Xi. "It is important to continue constant dialogue between the two nations as China is a very important country," Nikai told the press after the meeting with Abe. END
