Leader's Representative Dismisses US Proposal For Direct Talks On Nuclear Dispute

Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA -- The Supreme Leader's representative to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps on Sunday dismissed the proposal made by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to hold direct talks on nuclear dispute. Hojjatoleslam Ali Saeedi said that the US proposal for holding direct talks with Iran aims to undermine national resolve of Iranians and that direct talks with US will bear no fruit for Iran. He made the remarks in a meeting with a group of IRGC commanders. Toughening of sanctions was the first phase of strategy adopted by the global arrogance against the Islamic Republic of Iran which developed to other areas such as imposing sanctions on technological know-how, investments, banking system, oil exports and satellite networks, he said. He said that the global arrogance masterminded a psychological warfare to influence decisions made by top officials to mislead the nation such as cyber-attacks, fomenting unrest, posing military threats along with proposing negotiations. "All and all considered as their approach toward Iran." He said that the US proposal to hold direct talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran would be no success for Iran as the problems developed between Tehran and Washington over the past three decades could not be resolved by negotiations. The aim behind such offer is to destabilize the resolve of Iranian nation, he said adding that the US is to expand its hegemony on the globe and seek to bring Iran to its knees. The global arrogance tries to mastermind various conspiracies and impose sets of sanctions to force Iran change its principled stand, he said. They seek to destroy the Islamic system; he said and warned those favoring direct talks. "There is no doubt that in their negotiations, they will ask Iran to stop its support for Hezbollah of Lebanon, Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation, regional movements and the Shia Muslims." He said that in such negotiations, Iran's nuclear program will be on the agenda which requires enlightening the minds of the people to thwart enemy's psychological warfare. It is about two years that the global arrogance does its utmost against Resistance Movement in Syria but to no avail as they can do nothing in dealing with people's resistance, he said.
