At least 50,000 killed in clashes in Libya

TRIPOLI (A.A) - December 6, 2011 - At least 50,000 people have been killed in clashes which lasted for months after the uprising that destroyed Muammar Gadhafi's 42-year rule in Libya. Speaking to AA correspondent in Tripoli, Libyan Minister of Martyrs and the Wounded Abdel Rahman Al Kissa said that at least 50,000 were killed and 25,000 people were wounded in clashes. Al Kissa said that Turkey was the first country offering help on medical treatment of Libyan wounded people. "That's why we are grateful to Turkey. We would like to thank Turkish authorities especially President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Health Minister Recep Akdag for their assistance," he said. More than 1,800 wounded people have been treated in Turkish hospitals so far, he added.
