Leaving JCPOA will isolate US: Iranian official

Tehran, April 10, IRNA – A senior Iranian official said here on Tuesday that a possible US withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal will make Washington isolated. Talking to IRNA, Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said that if the US unilaterally walks ou of the deal, it will create political and international problems for that country. May 12, 2018 is a deadline for US President Donald Trump to extend waivers of economic sanctions on Iran. Kamalvandi added so far Trump has repeatedly threatened not to extend those waivers but has eventually agreed to waive sanctions against Iran. He underscored that if the US violates the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), it will be further isolated on the political scene. Kamalvandi underscored that the JCPOA has been endorsed as an Annex to the Security Council Resolution 2231, which makes it an internationally accepted document. 1378/IRNA
