Lebanese Defense Min. Briefs Officials On His Iran Visit

Beirut, Oct 22, IRNA – Lebanon's Defense Minister Samir Moqbel briefed five Lebanese officials on the achievements of his visit to Iran. He visited Iran on October 18 for three days upon the official invitation of his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan. Moqbel held immediate meetings with five senior Lebanese political and military officials upon his arrival in Beirut to brief them on quality of bilateral military cooperation and Iran's arms donation to the Lebanese army to fight terrorism. He discussed the issue with the Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam and then the Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji. He then met with the former president of Lebanon Michel Suleiman who had said before Iran is not ready for any armed aids to Lebanon. The Lebanese defense minister also held meetings with the leaders of two political parties. Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani has recently said that Tehran is to provide military equipment to the Lebanese Army for its anti-terrorism struggles./end
