Lebanon Defense Minister In Tehran

Tehran, Oct 18, IRNA - Lebanese Minister of Defense Samir Moqbel, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived here on Saturday. Moqbel is visiting Tehran upon an official invitation of his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan. During his three-day stay, Moqbel who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister will discuss the latest regional and international developments as well as bilateral relations with Iranian officials. The two defense ministers' bilateral talks will focus on Iran's military donation to Lebanon and ways to promote Tehran-Beirut defense relations. While in Iran, the Lebanese minister is to inspect military achievements of Iran's Defense Ministry. Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani has recently said that Tehran is to provide military equipment to the Lebanese Army for its anti-terrorism struggles. Over the past months, Lebanon has been the scene of terrorist strikes by al-Qaeda-linked militants as well as random rocket attacks, which are viewed as a spillover of the conflict in Syria. According to a report published by the Lebanese al-Manar TV network, Iran's military donation will include Doshka machine guns, 60 and 129mm launchers with their ammunitions, night-vision binoculars, TOW anti-armor missiles, 155mm artillery and tank ammunitions./end
