Maintaining Turkey-Syria Territorial Integrity Essential To Restore Peace : Deputy FM

Tehran, Oct 4, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahiyan said Thursday maintaining territorial integrity of of Turkey and Syria and their restraint were essential for restoration of peace and stability. “Regarding what happened in Syria-Turkey border area, Iran calls on both sides to show restraint and mull the incident precisely with due attention to the objectives being sought by enemies in the region,” said the diplomat. Amir-Abdollahian also called on Ankara and Damascus to consider presence of irresponsible extremist, terrorist and armed groups in the region as well as plots made by the enemies. He also sympathized with the survivors of the incident. "Regional security is contingent upon boosting the control of border areas around Syria and this was also underlined during the talks in Cairo and New York, the official said./end
