Majlis Condemns Iraq Terrorist Acts

Tehran, June 8, IRNA – National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis (Parliament) condemned the terrorist actions in Iraq aimed at sowing discord among Islamic sects. In a statement, the commission strongly lambasted the recent terrorist operation against the Iranian pilgrims in Iraq. It stressed that such terrorist operations, organized and supported by both the US and the Zionist regime, are to spread out pessimism among followers of various Islamic sects. The commission further called on international organizations to identify the elements of such crimes and take action against them. It also underlined the need for providing security of all pilgrims. The only one which should hold responsible for martyrdom of the Iranian pilgrims in Iraq is the US, stressed the statement. The commission, at the end, condoled the victims families and assured them that it would seriously follow up the case and defend their rights. Some 16 Iranian pilgrims were killed and 44 others injured in Iraqˈs Harouniya region, 60 kilometers from Baghdad, on Friday after suicide bombers hit two buses carrying Iranian pilgrims./end
