Majlis Speaker Meets Japanese FM

Tehran, Nov 10, IRNA – Iranian Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday held talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida on ways to develop Tehran-Tokyo relations. The Japanese foreign minister arrived in Tehran earlier in the day to hold meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials. The two officials discussed issues of mutual interest, such as Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and the latest developments in bilateral relations. During his two-day stay in Tehran, Kishida is scheduled to meet with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif who is currently in Geneva, Switzerland for nuclear talks with foreign ministers of Group 5+1. Foreign Minister Kishida is also scheduled to have a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani. The Japanese foreign minister is expected to review regional crises such as the humanitarian plight in Syria with Iranian officials. According to the Japanese media, Kishida will discuss environment protection and campaign against drug trafficking with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held talks on September 26 on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in New York./end
